Back on My Feet

Back on My Feet is a nonprofit organization that promotes the self-sufficiency of homeless populations by engaging them in running as a means to build confidence, strength and self-esteem.  Back on My Feet began in Philadelphia, has chapters in Baltimore, Boston, and Washington, with more chapters opening soon in Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Atlanta, and Minneapolis.

Rather than focusing on the division between "volunteers" and "disadvantaged," Back on My Feet considers all of its participants members of the program regardless of socio-economic status.  All members find themselves transformed by participating in and supporting the program.

If you live in one of the cities with a chapter, please consider getting involved.  Otherwise, whatever you donate will be warmly welcomed.  And definitely spread the word via social media and word of mouth!

Tim Ferriss's Give-Back Birthday

Tim Ferriss, well-known author, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, has one birthday wish this year: to help high-need kids in public schools.  He is matching all donations made through midnight Sunday night (PST), up to a total of $100,000!  Please visit his page on DonorsChoose.org and select a project to donate to, or just give to the most urgent project.  Bonus points if you post this page to your FaceBook profile, Tweet it, email it to your friends - get the word out.  Time is of the essence!

Update: You can get $3 for free here, and use it to supplement your donation above.

Final update: Tim matched everyone's donations made through midnight on his birthday by way of sending all the donors a $50 gift code to use towards any project, giving the donors the chance to decide where to put the money.  The full letter is included here.  His page is still accepting donations, and of course DonorsChoose.org is still active and helping students across the country.
